Welcome to Awaken!
We're so glad that you're here - and we'd love to know that you are here.
If you can take a moment to fill out the Connect Card below, someone from our team will reach out to you by email to connect. We'd love to invite you to a beverage of your choice where you can get to know us a bit and ask any questions you might have, and we can get to know you, a bit more of your story and what brings you to Awaken.

What should I expect?
Gatherings at Awaken begin at 10:30am each Sunday and last about 75 minutes. On a typical Sunday, we'll sing together, have a time to greet one another, hear a teaching from scripture, have a time of silence, celebrate the Eucharist and receive a blessing/sending. We meet in an old Lutheran church with stained glass which is beautiful, but we're pretty low key and laid back so you're welcome to dress up or not - totally up to you.
We invite you to stop by the Discover Awaken Booth just inside the parking lot entrance where a host will greet you and welcome you to Awaken. We'd enjoy hearing about you and how you heard about Awaken. At the booth, we can share any information you may be interested in.

What denomination is Awaken Community?
Originally formed as part of the Evangelical Covenant Church in 2010, we were involuntarily removed from that denomination in 2023 for our position & practice on gay marriage. While we remain non-denominational, we continue in our endeavor to keep Jesus at the center as the "well" we gather around and find Him to be more than faithful.
If you want a more in-depth sense of our beliefs, check out our values statement, our statement regarding Freedom in Christ, or listen to some sermons. If you're new to Awaken, we recommend starting with our Wells & Fences and Formational Targets series.

What should I wear?
Come as you are and be yourself — there is no dress code at Awaken. Most people dress casually so you'll see a lot of jeans, plain t-shirts, collared shirts, dresses, and slacks. You'll blend right in with a casual or dressy casual outfit.
We ask that you refrain from wearing strong perfumes, colognes or lotions (your fellow attendees with allergies or sensitivities will thank you).
Our building does not have AC, so during the summer months we recommend planning your outfit accordingly as the building temperature can sometimes get up to 80 degrees. AC is provided in kids classrooms for Nursery through age 5.

When should I arrive?
We recommend arriving 5 - 10 minutes before the gathering begins so you have time to park and find a seat. If you're looking to avoid any crowds or find an early seat, we'd recommend arriving 15 minutes before the gathering begins.
Where should I park?
Limited parking is available in the lot on the southwest side of the building. That lot typically fills up quickly, so we recommend arriving early or making use of the street parking available on Carroll Ave and Iglehart Ave.
Are food or beverages allowed in the sanctuary?
Ran out of time to eat breakfast? You are welcome to bring food or beverages into the sanctuary with you. You can also get some freshly brewed Wildflyer Coffee at the hospitality table in the lower level of the building. Please clean up any garbage from your pew and throw that in the trash, recycling, and compost receptacles when you leave the sanctuary.
If you're looking for a place to eat lunch after the gathering, we recommend checking out one of the many delicious restaurants in the Rondo neighborhood. You can find a list of recommendations here.

What if I have questions or need help?
On Sunday mornings you can find any volunteer with a "Welcome Host" lanyard and they'll be happy to answer any questions you have. If you have a question you don't see here, you can reach out to us by email, or fill out the Connect Card below to meet with a staff member.
Anything else I should know?
Church is for everyone. A place for those who love God and for those who want to love God more. A place for those with lots of faith, for those with little faith, and for those who are questioning it all. A place for those who have been here many times, those who have not been for a long while, and those who have never been before. So come as you are, engage as you want, leave when you need to. Breathe. Feel everything. Chat with those around you.
This is a community for all who wish to gather around the well that is the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. It's why we do what we do, and we can't wait for you to join us.
